Extrude

Extrude

Extrude turns a sketch profile or selected planar face into a prism. It is the workhorse for bosses, plates, pads, and sketched cuts.

Profiles

A profile is usually a closed sketch. The feature creator lists available sketches in the active part. If you select a planar face before opening Extrude, the wizard can use Selected face as the profile so you can push or cut from existing topology.

Operations

  • Add (union) fuses the prism into the running body.
  • Subtract (cut) removes the prism from the running body.
  • Intersect keeps only the volume shared by the body and prism.

The IR also supports starting a separate body for feature history that intentionally contains multiple bodies.

End conditions

The IR supports blind, mid-plane, up-to-face, up-to-surface, and through-all end conditions. Mid-plane extrudes equal distance on both sides of the sketch plane. Up-to-face and up-to-surface resolve against topology or surface references. Through-all is primarily meaningful for cuts through an existing body.

Current UI

The shipped wizard exposes profile, distance, direction for selected-face profiles, and operation. Advanced end conditions are present in the IR and kernels, and may be authored by the assistant or future expanded controls, but the compact wizard currently keeps the common blind-distance flow front and centre.
