Features overview
A part is a timeline of features. Kerf evaluates that timeline through the browser Replicad kernel for live preview and the server Build123d kernel for authoritative mesh and topology. Feature edits are IR operations, so undo, collaboration, and the AI agent all work on the same document substrate.
Profile features
Extrude creates a prism from a sketch or selected planar face. Revolve spins a sketch around an axis. Sweep moves a sketch along a path, and Loft blends between two or more profiles. These are the main tools for creating new material or cuts.
Edge and face features
Fillet rounds selected edges; Chamfer cuts bevels. Shell removes selected faces and hollows the body. Hole drills simple, counterbore, countersink, tap, and clearance holes. Draft tapers selected faces around a neutral plane. Direct face edits such as move, offset, delete, replace, extend, and modify exist for imported or history-light geometry, with some UI surfaces still assistant-first.
Reuse features
Linear pattern, polar pattern, and mirror repeat source features. Curve and fill patterns are available for more specialised repetition. Patterning the source feature keeps the design editable: change the source once, then regenerate the pattern.
Surface and manufacturing tools also exist in the feature creator, including surface extrude/revolve/sweep/loft, thicken, helix, rib, text, wrap sketch, split body, and move/copy body. Browser support varies for the most advanced surface operations; the server kernel remains authoritative.
